PREMIUM SERVICES
The Right Start for Everything You Plan to Build
From the first cut to the final backfill, Livingstone Earthwerx provides the essential excavation services needed to move your project forward safely and correctly.
Excavation
Professional excavation for foundations, footings, trenches, septic systems, property improvements and general earthmoving. Every cut is made according to the project, surrounding conditions and intended use of the site.
Grading
Proper grading creates stable, usable ground and directs water where it belongs. Livingstone Earthworks shapes properties for house pads, driveways, concrete, drainage and future improvements. Careful elevations and slopes give everything that follows a better place to begin.
Rockwork and Retaining Walls
Turn difficult slopes into strong, beautiful and usable spaces. Livingstone Earthworks builds concrete walls, natural rock retaining walls, boulder features and rock steps shaped to complement your property. Every project balances lasting function with a timeless finish.
Drainage & Waterproofing Your Home and Property
Protect your home and property from standing water, foundation moisture, erosion and winter runoff. Livingstone Earthworks provides French drains, foundation waterproofing, culverts, drainage ditches and water-diversion systems designed around your land. We direct water away from vulnerable areas before it causes costly damage.
The Work Beneath the Surface Determines What Lasts Above It
Foundations, driveways, utilities, retaining walls and finished properties all depend on the quality of the work underneath them. A poorly prepared site can lead to standing water, settling, erosion, access problems and costly repairs long after the equipment has left.
Mountain and foothill properties bring their own challenges. Slopes, rock, limited access, changing soil conditions and seasonal runoff can all affect how excavation work should be approached.
Livingstone Earthwerx takes the time to walk the property, understand what you are building and identify the conditions that could affect the finished project. The goal is not simply to move dirt. It is to prepare your property correctly so everything that follows has a better place to begin.

Who You’re Trusting With Your Project
Owner Mathan Hayes developed a passion for heavy equipment as a young boy while working alongside his father. He learned to operate dozers, excavators, skid steers and backhoes early in life, building an understanding of equipment and the land that could never be learned from a book alone.
That passion stayed with him. After returning to the heavy-equipment industry full time, Mathan spent years strengthening his operating experience and working toward the company he had always envisioned.
Livingstone Earthwerx is the realization of that lifelong dream. It is also a company built on something deeper.
The name comes from 1 Peter 2:4–5 and its reference to Jesus Christ as the Living Stone. Just as a cornerstone establishes the foundation of a building, faith establishes the foundation of this company. It guides how Mathan approaches the work, treats customers and builds relationships intended to last well beyond a single project.
Work Built on Integrity, Not Shortcuts
Livingstone Earthwerx believes dependable excavation starts with honesty. That means giving customers straightforward answers, communicating when conditions change and taking responsibility for the finished work.
Every property deserves careful attention, whether we are preparing a homesite, digging a utility trench, correcting drainage or clearing land for its next purpose. The goal is always to complete the work with excellence and leave the customer confident about what comes next.
Local Roots. Relationships
Built to Last.
Livingstone Earthwerx is based in Sonora and proudly serves property owners throughout Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Mariposa County and the surrounding Motherlode.
Customers are treated like part of the Livingstone family. We are not interested in being hired for only one project. We want to earn the trust that makes us the first phone call you make whenever your property needs excavation work in the future.
